1. Who We Are
Orebit Geologist Toolkit ("the Tool") is a browser-based geological resource estimation application operated by Orebit. Our tools help geologists validate drillhole data, run exploratory data analysis, and build mineral resource estimates — all locally in your browser.

2. Information We Collect
2.1 Data You Provide
When you use the Tool, you upload CSV or Excel files containing geological data (drillhole surveys, assays, lithology, etc.). This data is:
- Processed entirely in your browser using JavaScript
- Never uploaded to any server
- Never stored on our infrastructure
- Never transmitted to any third party
2.2 Google Drive Integration
If you choose to use the Google Drive feature, the Tool accesses your Google Drive files only when you explicitly authorize it. Here's exactly what happens:
When you click "Open from Google Drive," you're redirected to Google's official login page. You grant the Tool permission to access your files.
| What We Access | Purpose | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| File list (titles, IDs) | Display your files in the picker | drive.readonly |
| File content (download) | Read your CSV/Excel data | drive.readonly |
Important: We request read-only access. The Tool cannot modify, delete, or share your Google Drive files. All processing happens in your browser — file content is never sent to our servers.
2.3 Google Account Information
When you authenticate with Google, we receive:
- Your email address (for authentication)
- Your name (for display in the app)
- Your profile picture (optional, for UI display)
This information is used only to display your account in the app interface. We do not store it on our servers.
2.4 What We Do NOT Collect
- Your geological/drillhole data
- Your resource estimates or reports
- Your Google Drive files (content is read in-browser only)
- Personal identification information beyond Google account basics
- Browsing history or behavior tracking data
- Cookies for advertising or tracking purposes
3. Client-Side Data Processing
All data processing in the Tool happens entirely in your browser:
- CSV/Excel parsing — in-browser JavaScript
- Statistical calculations — in-browser computation
- Visualization and charts — in-browser rendering
- Report generation — in-browser PDF/HTML creation
- Resource estimation (kriging, IDW, etc.) — in-browser algorithms
There is no server-side processing. Your data is never uploaded to any server. You can verify this by disconnecting from the internet after loading the tool — everything continues to work.
4. Cookies and Local Storage
4.1 Session Storage
The Tool uses browser sessionStorage to temporarily hold:
- Google OAuth access tokens (cleared when you close the tab)
- Your current working data (cleared when you close the tab)
4.2 IndexedDB
The Tool uses browser IndexedDB to store your project files locally on your device. This data:
- Never leaves your browser
- Is not accessible to us or any third party
- Can be deleted by clearing your browser data
4.3 No Tracking Cookies
We do not use cookies for:
- Advertising or retargeting
- Analytics or user behavior tracking
- Cross-site tracking
- Third-party data sharing
5. Third-Party Services
The Tool integrates with the following third-party services:
Google Picker API and Google Drive API are used solely for the Google Drive file import feature. Your use of Google services is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
We do not integrate with any analytics, advertising, or data collection services.
6. Data Security
- HTTPS encryption — all communication between your browser and our server is encrypted
- OAuth 2.0 — Google authentication uses industry-standard OAuth 2.0 with PKCE
- Read-only access — Google Drive integration requests read-only permissions
- No server storage — your data is never stored on our infrastructure
- Minimal permissions — we request only the permissions necessary for the Tool to function
7. Your Rights
- Access: Your data is always accessible to you — it's on your device
- Deletion: Clear your browser data or revoke Google access to remove all traces
- Revocation: You can revoke Google Drive access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions
- Portability: Export your data at any time using the Tool's built-in export features
8. Children's Privacy
The Tool is designed for professional geologists and mining professionals. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 years of age.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
